CHURCH MEMBERSHIP | Jonathan was admitted to the church at Charlestown on 18 September 1715. |
RESIDENCE & REAL ESTATE | Jonathan was granted 10.5 acres of land in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA in 1685. In 1699/1700, he bought 6 acres from B. Bunker. In 1700, he sold 16.5 acres to Samuel Whittemore. He sold a house to S. Counce in 1704. In 1707, he bought 3 acres from John Pierce & sold the same lot to Joseph Kent that same year. Along with John Pierce, he sold 12 acres of woodlot #56 to W. Richardson in 1707. He sold 6 acres of Bunker [Hill] to A. Ireland in 1708. He sold lots to Spencer Phipps in 1709 & 1710. To his son Samuel, he either deeded or sold a house & 30 acres in 1713. He bought this parcel back from his son's widow Mehitabel in 1714/15. He then mortgaged the same lots to C. Chambers in 1715/16[25]. |
ESTATE |
Jonathan's estate was administered to his widow, Mary on 16 July 1722. The
inventory included a house and 10 acres, being 4 acres meadow, 3 acres orchard,
3 acres plowland, 19-1/2 acres of pasture, 2 acres of marsh, 2 acres of upland,
1-1/2 acres & 6 acres - being 7-1/2 acres woods, 1st division 2nd range Mystic Side.
His widow received the southwest part of the house, 1.5 acres of orchard & meadow, 2 acres of upland, 2.25 acres of woods and 6 acres of the 19.5 acres of pasture mentioned in the estate inventory. In 1724/5, 3.25 acres of lot #56 was granted to Thomas Pierce. In 1728, Mary Lobdell Pierce deeded to her children all the rights to her husband's estate. In 1728/9, the heirs sold to Joseph Pierce the northeast end of the house & the cellar under the northwest end of the house; 2/3 of the barn at the west end; 8.75 acres and another parcel of 13.5 acres. In addition, they sold him one-quarter of the 5 acres of woods bequeathed to their mother by their father; and ³Drinker's house² -- lot #45. In 1728/9, the heirs -- working through Joseph & John Pierce, attorneys -- sold to N. Tufts 1 and 1/8 acres of orchard and sold 6 acres to S. Phipps. In addition, they transacted the southwest third of the barn and 2.25 acres at the north end of the 6 acre lot[25]. |
MARRIAGE | On 4d:10m(December):1683 when Jonathon was 22, he married Mary LOBDELL, daughter of Isaac LOBDELL & Martha WARD, in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[1,11,35,38,39,40,41,42,43]. They were married by Deputy Governor Thomas Danforth, Esq. |
