BIRTH & BAPTISM Edward was born in 1603 in Scotton, Lincolnshire, England[1] and was baptized there on 3 August 1603 as "Edwardus Wigglesworth", son of "Willi"[4].
DEATH Edward died in New Haven, CT on 1 October 1653; he was 50[2,3].
MIGRATION & RESIDENCE Edward moved to Wrawby, Lincolnshire, England where he married and his son, Michael, was baptized. Wrawby is about 13 miles south of the Lincolnshire/Yorkshire border[5]. Edward, his wife & son migrated to Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA in 1638 and sailed for New Haven in October of that year[2,7]. He was on the list of planters made between 7 April 1639 and 22 November 1640[3].
ESTATE His will is dated 5 May 1653 and mentioned his wife, Hester, son Michael & daughter Abigail[6].
MARRIAGE On 27 October 1629 when Edward was 26, he married Esther/Hester MIDDLEBROOK, daughter of < a href="../Middlebrook/MichaelMiddlebrook.html">Michael MIDDLEBROOK & Grace [surname not known], in Wrawby, Lincolnshire, England[1,2,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15]. The Bishops' Transcripts for Wrawby list the record as: "[ ] Wiglesworth" to "Ester Middlebrooke".

CHILDREN 3. i. The Reverend Michael Wigglesworth Michael was born on 18 October 1631 in Wrawby, Lincolnshire, England[1,2] and was baptized there on 21 October 1631[1]. Michael died in Malden, Middlesex co., MA on 10 June 1705; he was 73[24]. He is buried in Bell Rock Cemetery, Malden, Middlesex co., MA[24]. Michael graduated from Harvard in 1651[24] and served as the Minister at Malden, Middlesex co., MA from 1655 until his death[24]. Michael is a famous colonial clergyman and 17th American poet whose most famoius work was the Calvinistic ode 'Day Of Doom" Much info exists about him.

On 18 May 1655 when Michael was 23, he first married Mary REYNER, daughter of Humphrey REYNER & Mary MIDDLEBROOK, in Rowley, Essex co., MA[25]. Mary was born before 8 December 1632[25] and died in Malden, Middlesex co., MA on 21 December 1659; she was 27[24]. They were first cousins...a fact which troubled Michael[24].

They had one child:
i. Mercy married The Reverend Samuel BELCHER, son of Jeremy BELCHER and Mary CLIFFORD as his second wife. Mercy died on 14 November 1723.

Soon after 8 May 1679 when Michael was 47, he second married Martha MUDGE, daughter of Thomas MUDGE & Mary [surname not known], in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[24]. Martha was born circa 1662[24] and died in Malden, Middlesex co., MA on 4 September 1690; she was 28[24]. She had been his housekeeper[24].

They had the following children:

v. Dorothy
vi. Samuel

On 23 June 1691 when Michael was 59, he third married Sybil SPARHAWK, daughter of Nathaniel SPARHAWK & Patience NEWMAN, in First Church, Braintree, Norfolk co., MA[24]. Sybil was born circa 1655 in Dedham, Norfolk co., MA[24] and died in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA on 6 August 1708; she was 53[24]. She is buried in Old Burying Ground, Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA[24].

They had one child:
