This is probably his father's homestead (see Thomas Jr.'s estate inventory) as well as part of his grandfather Thomas Newhall Sr.'s farm[140,141]. |
| ESTATE | Samuel's estate was administered 2 January 1718 and divested/probated on 6 April 1719 amongst the widow and all the children.[139] Administration was granted to his widow Abigail. Her sureties were James Houlton and Samuel King[138] Samuel, Jr. received the Real Estate and he gave bonds to pay his siblings their shares. He mortgaged the homestead to protect the sureties on these bonds to Samuel Stone, of Salem, bricklayer and Joseph Jacobs of Lynn, yeoman. |

Samuel was born on 26 October 1696 in Lynn, Essex co., MA[211]. He was a malster, Husbandman &
Fisherman[174]. He is Waters #106. Samuel was involved in a lawsuit over the Real Estate he received from
his father's estate brought by his siblings and a slew of Alleys[212]. Administration on his estate was
granted on 3 May 1760 to Allen Breed (a principal creditor from the lawsuit) - since the widow Katherine and the
son, Solomon Newhall, Jr. had failed to take administration "as by paper of 19 June 1758, on file." Account
presented on 27 September 1762[213].
On 24 July 1718 when Samuel was 21, he married Katherine STONE, daughter of Samuel STONE & Mary TREADWELL[211].
