BIRTH Samuel was born on 19 January 1672 in Lynn, Essex co., MA[7,108,135,136,137 138].
DEATH Samuel died in Lynn, Essex co., MA by 6 April 1719 (when his will was probated); he was 47[49,139].
OCCUPATION Samuel was a Joiner[138].
RESIDENCE & REAL ESTATE At Samuel's death, he was "...possessed of a homestead consisting of a dwelling house, two barns, one mal house and about twelve acres, bounded easterly with the land formerly of John Newhall, Sr., deceased, westerly with the land of Benjamin Potter, northerly with the common and southerly with the country road or highway." This is probably his father's homestead (see Thomas Jr.'s estate inventory) as well as part of his grandfather Thomas Newhall Sr.'s farm[140,141].
ESTATE Samuel's estate was administered 2 January 1718 and divested/probated on 6 April 1719 amongst the widow and all the children.[139] Administration was granted to his widow Abigail. Her sureties were James Houlton and Samuel King[138] Samuel, Jr. received the Real Estate and he gave bonds to pay his siblings their shares. He mortgaged the homestead to protect the sureties on these bonds to Samuel Stone, of Salem, bricklayer and Joseph Jacobs of Lynn, yeoman.
MARRIAGE On 31 December 1695 when Samuel was 23, he married Abigail LINDSEY, daughter of Eleazer LINDSEY & Sara ALLEY in Lynn, Essex co., MA[49,7,142,19,143,144,138] Torrey notes that an Intention was filed for Samuel Newhall and Mary Hallewell on 25 August 1685 in Lynn, Essex co., MA; but they probably didnšt marry.

144. iii. Samuel NEWHALL Samuel was born on 26 October 1696 in Lynn, Essex co., MA[211]. He was a malster, Husbandman & Fisherman[174]. He is Waters #106. Samuel was involved in a lawsuit over the Real Estate he received from his father's estate brought by his siblings and a slew of Alleys[212]. Administration on his estate was granted on 3 May 1760 to Allen Breed (a principal creditor from the lawsuit) - since the widow Katherine and the son, Solomon Newhall, Jr. had failed to take administration "as by paper of 19 June 1758, on file." Account presented on 27 September 1762[213].

On 24 July 1718 when Samuel was 21, he married Katherine STONE, daughter of Samuel STONE & Mary TREADWELL[211].

145. iv. Hepzibah NEWHALL Hepzibah married Joseph ALLEY on 14 Jan 1724/5[145].
146. v. Jerusha NEWHALL Jerusha married Timothy HOWARD on 19 May 1728[145].
147. vi. Elizabeth NEWHALL Elizabeth is Waters #107. On 26 September 1717 Elizabeth married Benjamin ALLEY, son of Hugh ALLEY & Rebecca [surname not known][213]. He was a fisherman and was born on 24 Feb 1694/5.

148. vii. Lydia NEWHALL Lydia is Waters #111. On 13 October 1734 Lydia married Ephriam STOCKER, son of Thomas STOCKER & Sarah BERRY[215]. He was a cordwainer[214] and was born on 4 April 1713[174].

149. viii. Solomon NEWHALL Solomon died before 26 August 1788[215]. He was a Cordwainer[214]. He is Waters #108. On 16 January 1726/7 Solomon first married Mary JOHNSON daughter of Deacon Richard JOHNSON & Elizabeth NEWHALL[215]. Mary died on 28 September 1743[215].

They had the following children:

On 1 November 1744 Solomon second married Mary BLY[215].
