RESIDENCE & SERVICE | Per his father's grant for serving in King Philip's War, Captain Richard was one of the early proprietors of Narragansett No. 3 or "Souhegan West" - what is now Amherst, Hillsborough co., NH. This territory was then part of Massachusetts. He was one of a company of three to manage the Proprietary and regulate allotments to the several claimants. His own property here was "Lott 21". |
MILITARY SERVICE & OCCUPATION | By virtue of his title as "Captain", Richard was clearly a longstanding member of the militia. He also served as Schoolmaster in Lynn, Essex co., MA in 1738. |
LEGAL MENTION & WILL |
Richard was a humble petitioner along with 31 others of "Severall of the Inhabitants of Boston,
Lynn and Malden, being a new neighborhood although in three Townes and three Countyes, etc. for a
road to connect them with mills, shops, etc. more conveniently."
Richard's will was proved on 7 April 1766[1]. |
MARRIAGE | On 29 March 1705 when Richard2 was 24, he married Thankfull SEAVER, daughter of Shubael SEAVER & Hannah WILSON, in Lynn, Essex co., MA[1,3,29]. An intention was also filed on 24 June 1704 in Lynn, Essex co., MA as "Richard Mower of Lynn & Thankful Sever of Roxbury (Seaver?)." In the Lynn marriage records, they are listed as "Mowre, Richard and Thankfull Sever [of Roxbury int]". |
