BIRTH Based upon her estimated marrigae date, Ruth was probably born circa 1625.
DEATH She died sometime after the birth of her twelfth child, Francis2, in 1670.
IDENTITY Ruth's surname is still a matter of some debate. Torrey has her listed under the surnames Benford, Bedfield, Bedford & Perley. Still others maintain that she is a child of Francis Plummer. Anderson has disproved the possibility that she is Francis Plummer's daughter, but no one has yet proven her parentage. I have listed her under "Benford" strictly for expediency.
MARRIAGE Circa 1643, Ruth married William SAWYER, in Newbury, Essex co., MA or Durham, Strafford co., NH[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9].

7. vi. Hanna1 SAWYER Hanna1 was born on 23 February 1653 in Newbury, Essex co., MA[17] and died there on 25 January 1659; she was 5[18]. In the Court Record of her birth, she is listed as a "d. William" and the date of her birth is recorded as 20 January 1659.
8. vii. William SAWYER William was born on 1 February 1655/6 in Newbury, Essex co., MA[16].
9. viii. Frances1 SAWYER Frances1 was born on 24 March 1658 in Newbury, Essex co., MA[19] and died there on 7 February 1659[18].
10. ix. Mary2 SAWYER Mary2 as born on 29 July 1660 in Newbury, Essex co., MA[15]. On 13 June 1683 when Mary was 23, she married Mary2 SAWYER, daughter of Sergeant John EMERY, JR. & Mary [SURNAME NOT KNOWN], in Newbury, Essex co., MA[57,101].
11. x. Stephen SAWYER Stephen was born on 25 April 1663 in Newbury, Essex co., MA[16]. There is a second entry for him, with the same date, under "Sawyer, Steven, s. Will[iam]". Stephen died in Newbury, Essex co., MA on 8 June 1753; he was 91[20].
12. xi. Hannah2 SAWYER Hannah2 was born on 11 January 1664 in Newbury, Essex co., MA[17] and died there on 28 August 1683; she was 19[18].
