BIRTH	She was born during July 1830 in either South Berwick, York co., ME or Rollingsford, Rockingham co., NH^[1,3] Her daughter Ella claims that her birthplace is Rollingsford.
DEATH	She died of Malignant Diphtheria in New Castle, Rockingham co., NH on 16 October 1863; she was aged 33 years, 3 months^[1,4,5].
NAME INFORMATION	"Mary Elizabeth Pierce" and "Sarah Pearse" are the same person. Her given name was "Sarah Elizabeth" but she was called "Mary&334;. In 1850, at age 18, Mary was living with her sister Rachel PEARSE YEATON in New Castle in 1850^[2].
FAMILY LORE	According to Ella Ross, Mary was a cousin of President Franklin Pierce -- entirely possible since he was the only US President to hail from New Hampshire, but far from proven^[1].
CHILD DISPERSAL	When Mary died, Eva, Charlie, Ella and Sarah were adopted by William & Hannah T. JACKSON. Henry was adopted by a family named CAMPBELL.
MARRIAGE	On 30 November 1853, Sarah "Mary" Elizabeth married William Henry ROSS, in New Castle, Rockingham co., NH^[4].
