BIRTH Based on the estimated birth of his eldest child in 1615, he was probably born circa 1590.
DEATH Thomas died on 30 December 1671[1].
MIGRATION The migration information for he and his family has been lost to time, but he was in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA by 1634/5.
CHURCH Thomas was admitted to the Charlestown church with his wife on 4d:12m(February):1634/5 and, as seen by his title, remained a leader in that church[2].
OCCUPATION He was a Maltser by trade[2].
RESIDENCE & REAL ESTATE In 1637, Lynde owned a 10 acre lot on the Mystic River side of Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA. In the 1638 Charlestown Book Of Possessions, his real estate holdings totaled the following 14 lots: his "house, malt-house, &c." along with a half acre of land in the South Field, along the southwest side of Mill Hill, next to the Charles River -- the Garden Land adjacent to this lot was known as "Malt Lane"; 3 acres in the South Field; 4 acres in the East Field, next to the Mystic River; 2 more acres in the East Field; 3.5 acres in the Line Field, next to the Cambridge (now Somerville), Middlesex co., MA line; 2 acres of meadow & pasture, location not specified; 10 acres in the Mystic Field; 10 acres of woods, lot #35, in the Mystic Field -- this lot measured 80 poles by 20 poles; 3 acres of meadow; 8 cow commons -- 7 of these fell to him "in dividend" and 1 he bought from James Matthews; 2 more acres in the Mystic Field which he bought from James Matthews; lot #26 comprising 35 acres in the Mystic Field -- measuring 100 poles long; 80 acres in the Rock Field and 2 acres of arable land in Line Field, by the "Mystic weare"[2].

In addition, Lynde bought and sold much real estate in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA over the years. In 1650, he bought 5 acres in the South Field, alongside the Charles River and 7 cow commons located near Menotomy (now Somerville), Middlesex co., MA. This deed was recorded in 1658. In 1650/1, he bought a half acre of land from L. Dowse and a lot from John Baker. In 1656, he sold 2 acres "of town, commons, next [to the] burying hill" to John March. This deed was also recorded in 1658. In 1656/7, he was the first on the list with 19 cow commons entered. In 1657, he sold 1 acre in the East Field, lying within Charlestown Neck, again to John March. He and March made a straight up real estate exchange in 1657: Lynde gave 2 acres in East Field, with a cart highway to March in exchange for a house, garden and one acre of land. That same year, he sold 2 acres "had of Leach" to W. Bachelder. In 1661, he sold a cow common to N. Rand. This deed was recorded in1680. He bought a wood-lot & other property from John Myrick in 1658 & 1661/2. He bought 1 acre from Thomas Hale, "et. al" in 1662. He sold 5 acres to N. Hutchingson in 1664. This deed was recorded in 1668. That same year he bought 2 acres from Joseph Stowers. In 1670, He sold a half acre of land to I. Balcom. Finally, he sold 8 poles of land to R. Jenner in 1670[2].

ESTATE
Thomas Lynde's will was written on 21 December 1671 and probated on 2d:12m(February):1671/2[2]. It was devised with the following bequests:
* To his third wife, Rebecca, he left the lot that he had bought from Goodman Stowers in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA and "the house that Morgan [Richard Rose Morgan] dwells in". However, a piece of land 2 poles wide at the end of the property, next to Brigden's land was to be used for a highway to Lynde's other land. She also received the servants "Negro Peter and girl Nan", two cow commons and the hay-lot by lands owned by Pierce & Welch. She also received use of half of the property for as long as she lived[2].

* To his son, Joseph, he left the "house, &c.", with the provision that his widow Rebecca had the right to use 1/3 of the orchard adjacent to this house & lot. Joseph also received the lot "bought of widow Nash", 6 acres "toward Cold Harbor"; the "stinted common" near the town of Nottomy (Menotomy, now Somerville), Middlesex co., MA and the wood-lot "bought of John Mical [Mitchell]"[2].

* To his son, Samuel, he left the house that Joseph lived in & the barn which stood on Goodman Stower's land, near T. Rand's land. He also received 4 cow commons, a wood-lot of 41 acres, a hay-lot in "Dirty Marsh" and "1/4 part of ketch whereof Mr. Downes hath 5/8"[2].

* To his son, Thomas, he left a half acre of land, 4 poles wide at the front, which adjoined Samuel's land.

* Finally, he left 2 cow commons to "the preaching Elder and Elders that are and shall be in the church of Christ [of Malden].

MARRIAGE #1 Before 1615 Thomas first married Mary [surname not known], in England[1,3,4]. She died before 1634, when Thomas had migrated to America and remarried.

3. ii. Henry LYNDE Henry died on 9 April 1646 in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[2].
4. iii. Mary LYNDE Mary was born circa 1629 in England and was probably brought over by John Winthrop, Jr. aboard the Abigail at 6 years of age. She married [not known] WICKS.

MARRIAGE #2 By 1634, Thomas second married Margaret MARTIN, in Malden, Middlesex co., MA or Charlestown, Suffolk co,. MA[1,4,6,7,8]. She died on 23 August 1662 in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[1,2].

CHILDREN 5. i. Joseph LYNDE Joseph was born on 3d:4m(June):1636 and was baptized on 5d:4m(June):1636.
6. ii. Sarah LYNDE Sarah was born early in 1639 was baptized on 14d:2m(April):1639. In 1657 when Sarah was 18, she married [not known] PIERPONT.
7. iii. Hannah LYNDE Hannah was born on 2d:3m(May):1642 and was baptized on 8d:3m(May):1642. In 1663 when Hannah was 21, she married John TRERICE.
8. iv. Samuel LYNDE Samuel was born on 14d:8m(October):1644.

MARRIAGE #3 On 6 December 1665 Thomas third married Rebecca [surname not known], in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[1,9,10]. Rebecca was admitted to the church at Charlestown on 12 February 1681/2[2] and died on 8 December 1688 in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[2].

In 1672, Rebecca had power of attorney from A. Pratt to sell land to W. Johnson. In 1676, she sold 2 acres of land near Cold Harbor, near the burying ground & clam bank. This deed was recorded in 1678. She received a grant of 2 cow commons in 1681 and drew lot #9, comprising 3 acres, that same year. She sold 2 cow commons, the ninth lot to be laid out (boundaries were left blank) in 1681/2. This deed was recorded in 1684. In 1685, she sold 2 cow commons to W. Dickson. Finally, she sold 1.75 acres, 20 poles of land and 1 hay-lot in 1686[2].

Her will was written on 6 April 1688 and probated on 17 December 1689. She left the house & wharf which used to belong to Abraham Pratt and was currently occupied by James Kelly & Robert Smith to her grandson N. Trerice. In case of his death, the property was to go to his brother, John. One D. Jenner was to receive the "house I live in". Hannah Trerice was bequeathed the small house which formerly belonged to Goodman Stowers. The seven other grandchildren were named in various legacies of small moveables[5].
