THOMAS DE FOTHILL

(late 1200s-early 1300s) - possibly Fothill or Toothill, England

(First Generation - de Fothill Family)

ALL WE KNOW Thomas' granddaughter Alice was alive in the 1330s; thus, Thomas probably lived in the late 1200s-early 1300s. He must not have had any sons or surviving sons because his daughter Beatrice and grand-daughter Alice de Woodhouse were named as his heirs. An unusual practice for the time if he did have sons. Therefore, I am assuming that there were none. We know nothing of his wife. The family name is vairously spelled "de Fothill" and "de Toothill" and could possibly indicate their village of residence at the time. Again, this is speculation without fact to substantiate it.
