BIRTH Robert was born somewhere in England circa 1609[1], based upon his death information.
DEATH & BURIAL He died in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA on 5 June 1683; he was 74[1] and was buried on 6 June 1683 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[2,3]. His death record notes that he was "an aged Christian". Anderson notes that the Roxbury town record of 13 May 1683 which mentions that Robert Seaver is "aged about 74 years" is dated incorrectly, but gives the correct age.
MIGRATION Anderson claims that Robert Seaver migrated in 1634, yet includes him in the first series of The Great Migration..., which covers New England immigrants from 1620-1633[1]. He is included by virtue of his marriage to his first wife, Elizabeth Ballard, who arrived in 1633. The first mention of him in the records is when he was admitted to the First Church of Roxbury "...among those who came in 1634...[1,14]"
CITIZENSHIP Robert was made Freeman on 18 April 1637[1,13].
RESIDENCE & REAL ESTATE On 22 May 1639 Robert Seaver was one of five Roxbury men who "had leave granted to him to continue in the houses which they have built, & do dwell in, though they be above half a mile from their meeting house"[5,10]. Normally, when houses were too far afield of the meeting house, that part of town was "spun off" to its own town. On 25 June 1651, "Rob[er]t Seaber" and others purchased an island from the estate of Captain Hugh Prichard[11].

In the Roxbury land inventory of about 1652, Robert Seaver held eight parcels, six of which had been granted to him: "house and lot one acre" two acres and a half; ten acres; four acres and a half; "four and twenty acres and a half lying in the first and third allotments of the last division, being the nine and twentieth lot"; "fourteen acres within the thousand acres at Dedham" "four acres of salt marsh more or less lying in the island lately Captain Hugh Prichard's"; and three acres[12].

OTHER MENTION On 28 October 1667 "about break of the day there happened dreadful thunder & lightning, whereby an hay cock of four load of hay belonging to Robt. Seaver, was fired in our marshes & burnt up.[4]"

On 7 October 1673 "About 9 o'clock at night the house of Robt. Seaver was fired through the carelessness of a maid that went up into the chamber to order the cheeses, her light fired the thatch & the house was burnt down, but much of the goods preserved, as also the barn[5,6]."

ESTATE In his will dated 16 January 1681/2 and proved on 5 July 1683, "Robert Seavers of Roxbury" bequeathed to "my wife" half of the estate (after the legacies are paid) for life (with certain conditions) and also all the moveables she brought with her; to "my son Shuball" half the barn; the "my son Shuball and my son Joshua...all the salt marsh in the island"; to "my son Caleb...that pasture land against his house on the great hill"; to "my son Samuel Crafts" a piece of swamp; to "John Seavers my grandchild" £6 at marriage; residue of estate, and widow's share when she dies to be divided equally among these four children; "my son Samuel Crafts and my son Caleb Seavers" executors[1,7].

The inventory of the estate of "Robert Seaver of Roxbury who deceased June 5th 1683" was taken 12 June 1683 and totaled £430 5s. 8d., including £300 in real estate: "housing, orchard, barn and garden," £90; "16 acres of pasture land or thereabout lying in Roxbury known by the name of Huckleberry Hill," £40; "24 acres of land in Roxbury called the further lot," £100; "6 acres of pasture land lying on the south side the great hill in Roxbury," £24; "4 acres of salt marsh lying in the island in Roxbury," £38; and "2 acres of fresh meadow lying at Bear Marsh in Roxbury," £8[8,9].

MARRIAGE #1 On 10 December 1634 when Robert was 25, he first married Elizabeth BALLARD, in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28]. Anderson says she was born in 1635. Elizabeth died on 9 June 1657 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[29,30]. "...'Elizabeth Ballard, a maid servant, she came in the year 1633 & was soon after her coming joined to the [Roxbury] church; she was afterwards married to Robert Sever of this church, where she had a godly conversation.'[31,32]..."

3. ii. Caleb SEAVER [twin] Caleb was born on 30 August 1641 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3]. On 15 December 1671 when Caleb was 30, he married Sarah INGLESBY, in Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[3,15,42,43,44,45,46,47,39,48]. Note that the names on various marriage records vary considerably: "SEAVER/SAVON, Caleb (-1713) & Sarah INGLESBY/ENGLESBIE/ENGLESHIE(-1708); 15 Dec 1671; Charlestown/Roxbury (Savon in Middlesex Court Rec. 1:387)[15]"
4. iii. Joshua SEAVER [twin] Joshua was born on 30 August 1641 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3]. On 28 February 1677/8 when Joshua was 35, he married Mary MAY[15,49,50], in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3].
5. iv. Elizabeth SEAVER Elizabeth was born on 19 November 1643 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3]. On 16 October 1661 when Elizabeth was 17, she married Samuel CRAFTS, in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3].
6. v. Nathaniel SEAVER Nathaniel was born in November 1645/6 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA and died in 1676; he was 30[15]. Nathaniel was baptized in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA on 8 November 1645/6[3]. Before 1671 when Nathaniel was 25, he married Sarah [surname not known], in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3,15,49,50,51]. Sarah remarried to Benjamin Wilson circa 1677.
7. vi. Hannah1 SEAVER Hannah1 was born in 1647/8 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA and died in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA on 3 June 1648; she was 1[5,54]. Hannah1 was baptized in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA on 6 February 1647/8[5,55].
8. vii. Hannah2 SEAVER Hannah2 was born in 1650 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA and died in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA on 3 February 1653/4; she was 3[5,52]. Hannah2 was baptized in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA on 23 October 1650[5,53].

MARRIAGE #2 After 4 March 1662 when Robert was 53, he second married Sarah [surname not known], in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3,15,18,33,34]. Sarah died on 18 December 1669 in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3,15,35].

MARRIAGE #3 Before 16 January 1681 when Robert was 72, he third married in Roxbury, Suffolk co., MA[3,15,18]. We know nothing of this woman.
