DEATH & BURIAL Robert, Sr. died on 8 November 1694 in Lynn, Essex co., MA[1]. He does not appear to be descended from Robert Rand of Charlestown, Suffolk co., MA[4]. Pity, that...
TOWN SERVICE & EDUCATION Robert, along with John Newhall, took inventory on the estate of Samuel Mansfield of Lynn on 24d:4m:1679[6]. On June 24, 1681, he and William Bassett took inventory of the estate of Richard Richeson of Lynn[7]. From these two inventories, we have a good idea of his education level, since he could only "make his mark" on them[2]. Since he would have been in the prime of his life and not debilitated by infirmity (as many people were when they made their wills), it is a good guess that he was illiterate.

In the accounting of John Humphries, Esq.'s estate, £30 was owed to "Robt. Rane for buildinge of Barne and abatement of Rent" also Cr. what has been received from Robt. Rane for 4 years Rent" £40. "Jo. Rand" owes 24s. 8d. to Abraham Toppan of Newbury's estate[3]. Also mentioned was "£61 6s. 10d. to "Rich. Hude [Hood] for Repareing of dwellinge house" and "what has been received from Richard Hude for three years Rent" £31[5].

MARRIAGE Before 1653 Robert married Elizabeth [surname not known], in Lynn, Essex co., MA[8,9]. She died on 29 August 1693 in Lynn, Essex co., MA[1].

3. ii. Robert RAND, JR. Robert, Jr. died on 6 December 1717 in Lynn, Essex co., MA "In his 64th year"[1]. Sometime in the "last of" January 1683 Robert married Tabitha IVORY, daughter of William IVORY & Ann SOUTH, in Lynn, Essex co., MA[10]. Tabitha died on 24d:8m:1743 in Lynn, Essex co., MA[30]. Her Lynn, Essex co., MA death record is most likely "Rand, __, wid., "old", but this is speculation on my part.

4. iii. Hannah RAND Hannah was born in 6m(August):1657 in Lynn, Essex co., MA[31]. On 18 September 1682 when Hannah was 25, she married Jacob KNIGHT, in Lynn, Essex co., MA[10].
5. iv. Elizabeth RAND Elizabeth On 3 March 1673/4 Elizabeth married Joseph HALL, son of Edward HALL and Sarah [surname not known], in Lynn, Essex co., MA[32].
6. v. Sarah RAND On 1 July 1674 Sarah married Ephriam HALL, son of Edward HALL and Sarah [surname not known], in Lynn, Essex co., MA[10].
7. vi. Zachariah RAND Zachariah died on 6 April 1765 in Lynn, Essex co., MA aged 76 y[1]. On 2 April 1684 Zachariah married Anna IVORY, in Lynn, Essex co., MA[10].
