| LIFESPAN | Roger was alive in 1251, during the reign of Henry III[1]. Thus, he was probably born sometime in the 1220s (estimation purely on the part of the author...nothing proven). |
| RESIDENCE | Roger lived in Wapentake of Morley, Yorkshire, England. He held lands in Rastrich (hence the family surname), Skircoat, Clayton and Bradford among others[1]. These areas still exist in Yorkshire. Bradford is a good sized city unto itself, in between Leeds & Halifax, Yorkshire, England. Skircoat is now a part of Halifax and Rastrick is a part of Brighouse -- a smaller town just southeast of Halifax. Both have library branches in their names. Clayton appears to be the current town of Clayton-Le-Moors, which is west of the other towns, near Burnley & Blackburn, Yorkshire, England. Morley survives as a town of the same name just south of the city of Leeds. |
