BIRTH William was born in 1608[1]
DEATH He died in Watertown, Middlesex co., MA before 1645; he was 37[9].
NAME DISCUSSION According to Bonds, "It is not clearly ascertained whether Goodridge, or Goodrich, is the correct orthography, as both of them are English names, and they have different coats of arms. Goodrick and Goodricke are also found in works of heraldry; and the coat of arms of Goodridge and Goodricke render it very probable that they are of the same origin"[10].
POSSIBLE MIGRATION & RESIDENCE INFORMATION Bond further conjectures that William and his brother John came over together from Bury, St. Edmunds or that vicinity in England. William settled in Watertown & his elder brother John was admitted as a Freeman in May, 1642 and then removed to Wethersfield CT[10]. William, himself, was admitted as a Freeman on 18 May 1642[9], most likely in Watertown, Middlesex co., MA where he was listed as a Proprietor in 1636/7 and 1642[9].
ESTATE "The inventory of "William Goodrich", of Watertown, made by Samuel Thatcher and Thomas Hastings, was dated 3 April 1647 [see NEHGR 7:57]. His widow Margaret remarried John HULL of Newbury, Essex co., MA. Their children went with their mother to Newbury, Essex co., MA and all married there[10,11].
MARRIAGE On 12 or 19 August 1632 when William was 24, he married Margaret BUTTERFIELD, in Watertown, Middlesex co., MA[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8]. On their marriage record, his name is listed as "Gutterig".

In October 1655 he was listed as a servant of Justinian Holden & got into a constable's hands for bad behavior[9]. On 15 November 1660 when Jeremiah was 23, he married Mary ADAMS, daughter of Robert ADAMS & Eleanor [surname not known], in Newbury, Essex co., MA[1,10,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26].

On 28 August 1664 when Joseph was 24, he married Martha MOORES, in Newbury, Essex co., MA[1,4,5,10,20,27,28,29,30]. Martha was born in 1643[1].
5. iv. Benjamin GOODRIDGE Benjamin was born on 11 April 1642 in Watertown, Middlesex co., MA[31]. The land granted to him, as "old Gutteridge," was sold to Christopher Grant and sold by him to Jonathan Harrington in 1683[31].

On 8 September 1663 when Benajmin was 21, he first married Deborah JORDAN, in Newbury, Essex co., MA[1,19,32,33,20,34,35,36]. Torrey reiterates that she is Deborah Jordan and not Mary Jordan. Deborah died in 1676[1].
