BIRTH Based on his marriage date of 1624, and assuming it was a first marriage for Edward, he was probably born circa 1600/1605. He was most likely born in England, where he married his wife.
DEATH He died on 26 December 1658 in Cambridge, Suffolk co., MA; aged 64[1,2].
MIGRATION & RESIDENCE The particulars of his migration are currently lost, but he was definitely was in New England by 1635. According to Young's Chronicle of Massachusetts (p. 539), it is probable that Edward Goffe was the "brother Goffe", who embarked at Harwich in Oct. 1634[3].

Edward was a resident of Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA[1,4], although he is mentioned in Bond's History of Watertown. He was the proprietor of a "homestall" and another lot in Watertown, Middlesex co., MA in 1642, but was probably never an official resident there. Instead, his land grant was most likely very near the boundary between Watertown and Cambridge and, thus, is mentioned in the histories of both towns[5].

On 25 July 1636, Watertown made its first set of Land Grants and Edward Goffe received "Lott 5...Sixty acres" in The Second Division[6]. His land holdings read in the records as:
"Edward Goffe.
I. An Homestall of Nine Acres bounded the North with Edmond White the South with his owne the West with Roger Willington & the East with the highway.
II. Fourteen Acres of Meddow bounded the East with banklane the West with Roger Willington the South with Edmond White & the North with his owne."[7]

and:

"Edward Goffe.
I. An Homestall of Nine Acres by estimation bounded the North with Edmond White the South with his owne Meddow the West with Roger Willington & the East with the highway in his Possession.
II. Nine Acres of Meddow by estimation bounded the Est with banklane the West with Roger Willington the South with Edmond White & the North with his owne vpland in his Possession."[8]

FREEMANSHIP Edward took the Oath of Freeman on 25 May 1636 in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA[9,10,11].
ESTATE His will was written on 26 December 1658 and proved on 29 December 1658. In it, mention is made of his second wife, Margaret; son Samuel; Samuel's mother-in-law, "Widow Barnard"; his daughters Lydia, Deborah, Anna & Abiah; and his mother-in-law, Isabella Williamson[5].
MARRIAGE #1 Circa 1624 Edward first married Joyce CUTTER, in England[1,12,13,14]. Joyce died in November 1638 in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA[1,2]. As with her husband, Joyce was probably born circa 1600/1605, assuming Edward was her first and only husband.

3. ii. Samuel GOFFE Samuel was born before 1634. He was born & baptized in England[32] and died in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA on 15 January 1705; he was 71[2]. On 25 June 1656 when Samuel was 22, he married Hannah BARNARD,/b>, in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA[33]. Hannah was born in 1635, as estimated from the fact that she was 44 years old at the time of her death. Hannah died in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA in April 1679 as "Goffe, Anna, w. of Samuell"[34].
4. iii. Nathaniel1 GOFFE Nathaniel1 was born in February 1637 in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA[35] and died sometime before 23 August 1645, when Nathaniel2 was born.

7. iii. Nathaniel2 GOFFE Nathaniel2 was born on 23 August 1645 in Cambridge, Middlesex co., MA as "Goffe, Nathaniel, s. of Edward and Joyce"[35]. Nathaniel possibly died before 1658, as he is not in his father's will. Then again, maybe he was just disowned.
