BIRTH Based on the date of the birth of his oldest son, John was probably born circa 1590-1595.
DEATH John died in 10m(December):1638 in Boston, Suffolk co., MA. Some sources claim that this death record is a misspelled entry for "James Bill". See the discussion under John Bill, Jr.'s [#5] entry below. However, Richard Tuttle became responsible for Dorothy Tuttle Bill's affairs after her husband John's death -- via a writ of 21 January 1638/9, 1 month after his death. This writ proves to me that the death record is not only correctly spelled, but indicates the death of this John Bill.
ORIGINAL RESIDENCE John is possibly of Ringstead, Northamptonshire, England. The Mary Bill who traveled with Dorothy Tuttle's brother William aboard the Planter is believed to be John Sr.'s daughter and surmised to be from this area[2,3].
MIGRATION While a John Bill is listed as emigrating aboard the Hopewell, Mr. William Bundocke, master, in 1635, he is on the manifest as 13 years of age and so is not this John Bill. Instead, it is believed to be his son John, Jr[1]. The Hopewell voyage mentioned here also carried the Farrington family and embarked from London to New England at the same time as the Planter, which carried the Tuttle clan to America.
MARRIAGE Circa 1615 John married Dorothy TUTTLE, daughter of [not known] TUTTLE & Isabel [surname not known], in England[4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12].

4. iii. Phillip BILL Phillip was born circa 1620 in England.
5. iv. John BILL, Jr. John, Jr. was born circa 1622 in England. According to Robert Anderson: "He is not found in any New England record. (Savage thinks this may be the John Bill who died in Boston in December of 1638, but John L. Cobb and Vada Tuttle Larson (aided by William H. Schoeffler) think it more likely that this record is for James Bill who died at that time.)...[3,20]" He may possibly be the "John Bill" who sailed aboard the Hopewell, Mr. William Bundocke, sailing from London to New England in 1635. The John Bill on this manifest was listed as being 13 years old, so he would have been the right age to have been this John Bill. In addition, the will of "John Tuttle of Rumney Marsh", Suffolk co., MA was in the handwriting of The Reverend Thomas Cheever (who was married to John's niece, Sarah)[40]. Since this could not possibly be his father John, Sr., it is likely that the will mentioned belonged to this John Bill. However, as seen by the previous discussion, much debate abounds about this member of the Bill family.
6. v. Mary BILL Mary was born circa 1624. Robert Anderson notes that the "Marie Bill" of the Planter is "...not found on any New England record, but as she was in the family of William Tuttle in the passenger list, and as the Tuttles and Bills were related and from the same part of England, Mary Bill is likely a member of the Bill family of Ringstead, NorthamptonshireŠ[2,3]"

The specific listing for her migration is widely accepted to be the "Marie Bill", aged 11, who is listed on manifest for the Planter, Nicholas Travice, master, bound from London to New England. The ship embarked 22 March - 11 April 1635. Most of the other passengers are from Stepney and St. Albans, Hertfordshire parishes[22,23]. Many of the Stepney emigrants settled in Lynn, Essex co., MA area.
