Aiken Drum
(version 1)
Words & Music:
Traditional Scottish
I've lost the original source of these notes: These lyrics first appeared as a
nursery rhyme In England in the mid-1800's as: "Edrin Drum." However, according to the Traditional Folksongs and Ballads
of Scotland by John Loesberg, the tune dates to "at least the 18th century or earlier." Raffi even did a version of this song in the 1980's using
Italian food based lyrics. Yum.
