William H. Ross Died in Amesbury Yesterday
Mr. Ross enlisted in the Mexican war at the age of 17 years from South Carolina. About 38 years ago he moved to Rockport, and took up his residence at West Gloucester in 1872, leaving the latter place about three years ago to go to Amesbury. He was married twice, having three children, a son and two daughters, by his first wife and one daughter by his second wife. The body will be brought to West Gloucester on the 1:57 train today and funeral services will be held from the residence of his step-daughter Mrs. George S. Hanson, 158 Essex Avenue, with interment later at Beech Brook cemetary. There are now only two survivors of the Mexican war in this county, Officer Martin J. Williams of this city and a Rowley man.
