all notes are verbatim and sic - and were written between 1969 (Esther's death, which is mentioned in these notes) and 1981 (LaForrest's death, which is not mentioned).


    NOTES ON THE HALL FAMILY

  1. She was adopted by William S. & Hannah ("Crazy Grammie Hall"). Ella's real mother was Mary Elizabeth Ross who died of diptheria. Her maiden name was Pierce. Little is known about her (Ella) parents but she (M.E.?) was a cousin of President Pierce.

  2. Ella was born Rollingsford, NH

  3. Ella's father Wiliam Henry Ross was born in Albermarle, N.C. and died 86 yrs. His people Scottish descent. He ran away from home & was a veteran of Civil War.

  4. Ella's brother Charlie Ross died Nampton, N.H. Her sister Eva/Evy Roberts was 84 yrs. or more. Her brother Henry Campbell (foster brother?) was over 80 yrs. He'd been caretaker for Wentworth-By-The-Sea (near Portsmouth, N.H.)

  5. Eva married Henry Roberts born in England. They settled in Boston.

  6. Henry Campbell had 2 wives & kids.

  7. Charlie Ross - son Kenneth married & lived in Hampton, N.H. & had daughter who died.

  8. Ordway came from Newcastle, N.H.

  9. Stacy Hall, Sr. was from New Castle, N.H.

  10. Ordway's mother Abbey Neal

  11. ? Clifton had 3 brothers & 1 sister
    Sister Isette (Neal) married Mr. Trefethern (Abbey's siste?)

  12. Stacey Sr. had 2 kids
    Gerald --> 2 boys Stacey Jr. & Jed
    Reginald --> 1 or 2 kids


  13. Stacey B Hall said family goes back to "pirates & they all got hung" His wife Carries said it goes back to French Royalty. They lived in Kittery, Maine. Stacey said we had "Indian Blood".

  14. Laforrest Leroy Hall was from around Portsmouth N.H. Has grammar school education machinist Walter Baker's Chocolate Retired top seniority.

  15. Ordway Hall was involved with the Rollins Brothers trial (around Boston, Mass.) & was killed at an A&P market holdup. He was the manager.

  16. (LL Hall) All his life at Bakers. Retired top seniority. Dorchester Lower Mills, Mass. Born probably around Portsmouth, N.H.

  17. Carl (Nelson) Lillian Hall's husband was a machinist.

  18. Lenora crippled with arthritis wheelchair.

  19. Lizzie - drunk(?) her kids --> Robert was at Pearl Harbor when bombed, in Air Force. Albert in Quincy, Mass. Eleanor disappeared.

  20. Laura may be alive.

  21. Lowie - a big woman her kids --> Kenneth crippled with Infantile Paralysis, Arthur married with kids in Holden, Mass. Frances married - no kids, Doris single in Grafton, Mass.
  22. Alice Swanson married Royal Braughham - a syndicated sportswriter for Seattle Post.

  23. Some Royal Braughham is a brain surgeon - nephew to Alice's husband : living in Quincy, Mass.

      NOTES ON THE HOLST FAMILY

    1. Victoria Holst cliams that John Oscar came from Gottenburg, Sweden. That his family was from Hull, Eng. from French Hugeote sp? background.
      That John Oscar's father was a bone setter in Sweden but was born in Hull, Eng.

    2. Augusta Matilda Swanson/Svenson was from Arlingsource, Sweden. Her father was a railroad station agent.

    3. John Oscar Holst was big & tall & died very old of cancer. He lived in Millis, Mass. and repaired locomotives from the Readville Car Shop until he was 75 yrs. old.

    4. John Oscar Holst's children: All Holsts were tall - big chins

    5. Albert Holst was killed by his wife. He or she was playing around. He was a musician, Rosacrucian. Very smart.

    6. George - machinist

    7. Florence died of cancer, bookkeeper, office worker

    8. Esther died of cancer, had grammar school education, Baker's Choc.

    9. Victoria was a diabetic. She died blind, Baker's chocolate work, Dr. Morgan Hyde Park girl Friday.

    10. J.O. made his children go to work right after school. Most want Albert to get more schooling.

    11. Alice Holst was attractive.

    12. Gladys married late & was "wild one".

    13. John still living doing social work near Naples, Florida.

    14. Doug - tall, quiet.

    15. Lorimer - machinist - Mason regulator.
